Product Installation, Protection, and Maintenance:
Arena Flooring

STORING/HANDLING

Asphalt is a thermoplastic material, which gives the tile its resilient properties making asphalt plank floors comfortable to walk on. Because there can be some deformation if not properly supported, Arena should be neatly stacked before use. The tile will recover its original shape if placed on a hard, level surface. The minimum temperature for product installation is 50 degrees F.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Arena will conform directly to the existing substrate, so the floor should be as smooth and clean as possible. Cracks and holes should be filled and uneven surfaces should be levelled with a patching compound or underlayment such as Elsro Patch-All. (Contact Elsro for detailed information on substrate surface preparation.)

TILE PLACEMENT

Tile should be installed in rows in a staggered, brick pattern using Elsro Comfortwalk Adhesive. A chalk line may be snapped over the adhesive to determine how true joint lines are running. If uneven, joints should be re-keyed and then realigned every 20 to 50 feet. A joint width of 3/32 inch or less should be maintained. Elsro Transition Strips are available as a permanent solution for various floor elevations. Gaps around columns, against equipment, etc. can be eliminated by using Elsro Patch-All.

TILE SEALER

Tile should be sealed with three coats of Elsro Base Coat Sealer, which is a premium quality sealer providing water resistance and dust reduction by forming a smooth, durable film. It should not be applied at temperatures below 40 degrees F, and should not freeze. Coverage rate is between 500 and 650 square feet per gallon, depending up porosity of floor. It should be touch dry in approximately three hours and firm dry in 24 hours.

TILE FINISH

Elsro Top Coat Sealer or our new Static-Free Dissipating Top Coat Sealer, are designed for buffing and burnishing and can be routinely applied and stripped off as part of the floor maintenance program. Two to three layers will give the floor a high-gloss appearance (wet look) and excellent wear characteristics. Coverage rate is between 400 and 600 square feet per gallon. It should be touch dry in approximately three hours and firm dry in 24 hours.

FLOOR MAINTENANCE

Elsro floor products do require a minimal maintenance program. Sweep the surface daily to prevent gritty buildup from scratching the tile and help decrease the need for more intensive cleaning. Damp mop the floor weekly followed by a single layer of Elsro Top Coat, if necessary. When Elsro tile has lost its glossy finish or can no longer be kept clean, strip off the old surface by flooding the Elsro AR-Stripper compound over the tile. After it has dissolved the worn Top Coat, vacuum off the residue, rinse and mop the floor. Mop on a new layer of Elsro Base Coat to restore uniform appearance. Multiple layers of Top Coat can be added and buffed to a high gloss.
