PRODUCT STORING AND HANDLING
Asphalt is a thermoplastic material, so there can be some deformation if not properly supported. Therefore, the plank should be neatly stacked before use. Any warped plank pieces will recover it's original shape if placed on a hard, level surface. The minimum temperature for product installation is 40 degrees F.
SURFACE PREPARATION
The integrity of the waterproofing membrane should be thoroughly inspected prior to the placement of Bridgemate and all surfaces should be free of dirt and debris and as smooth as possible.
BRIDGEMATE INSTALLATION
Bridgemate can be installed using Elsro's unique one-ply interlocking system or the standard two-ply system (outlined below). Either system reduces the possible ingress and infiltration of fines to a minimum and provides maximum membrane protection.
Bridgemate Ship Lap One-Ply System -- Bridgemate tile is laid dry directly on the waterproofing membrane with each tile butted tightly to the next in a ship lap or lap configuration. Adhesives are not required on the deck. Because of the unique inter-locking system only one layer is required to provide extreme resistance to ballast rock penetration.
Bridgemate Butt Edge Two-Ply System -- The first layer of Bridgemate is laid dry directly on the waterproofing membrane with each tile butted tightly to the next. The second layer is then laid with the butt-joints staggered on a half sheet module to avoid coincidence with the joints of the first layer. Adhesives are not required. The longitudinal dimension of the tile should be parallel to the composite slabs and structural membranes.
Either Bridgemate system can be dry or wet installed and is fully compatible with butyl sheeting and most waterproofing membranes including: liquid membranes, sheet membranes, sheet membranes of EPDM, butyl, neoprene rubber, polyvinylchloride as well as built-up systems. Bridgemate is equally adaptable to concrete, wood, steel and prestressed or precast concrete structures that require waterproofing.
